's a consequential difference. they know that president obama is going to increase taxes, where, where governor romney is not if he's elected president. that's an important issue distinction. coming into the last debate, the annenberg survey showed that the public thought that governor romney was more likely to take the country into a war, than was president obama. but the public also believed that president obama had gone around the world apologizing. now in the last debate, governor romney reassured that he was not as likely to take people into war as they had thought in that debate. and i think that was a calculated strategy on his part. now, you could say, "and it was illegitimate. you secretly know that he was more likely." but nonetheless, what we can measure is whether they get what he said he was going to do in the context. and i think that president obama responded to the apologizing around the world claim in a number of ways that were effective as well. and i think one of the things that we can say about debates making a difference is that, had there been debates in the goldwater/john

that the tactics that president obama is using talking about binders, bay nets, big bird, some of these, you know, gimmicky things are rubbing people the wrong way, in part, because they want to focus on jobs and the economy, which is this big kind of darker issue that the country is facing right now and it's worrying people a lot. and so the idea that he can talk about things like, you know, the binders comment, which is really just a play off a comment that mitt romney made during the presidential debate where he talked about his destroyer to hire a lot of women, that's kind -- it's not helping him, and i think that's reflected in the poll numbers, because you're seeing right now, romney is it tied or seems to have kind of a momentum, i guess, moving into the final week and that's what pollsters are saying. i think that democrats feel that this will help, particularly with women voters, because they make up the majority of the electorate, and if they can kind of put forward this argument that mitt romney wants to take away some things that are very important to them, then the

at the new yorker magazine. they just endorsed barack obama and all the talk about the des moines register. people are overlooking the fact he bagged "the new york times" and the new yorker. hurricane sandy caused president obama and mitt romney to cancel events in virginia. this is important because with only nine days left until election day, it comes down to math and geography, the votes and the map. the map shrunk to seven swing states, virginia, iowa, new hampshire, wisconsin and ohio are all in play this cycle. president obama can count on 243 electoral votes that will go blue and romney can count on 106. with each having to get to 270 to win. the simple take away is the president's path to victory is significantly easier. polls show barack obama consistently ahead in iowa and wisconsin. if he holds on there, he won both last time, he just needs to win florida, ohio or virginia. he's behind in florida and a dead heat in virginia. he seems to be ahead in ohio. it's why the candidates are spending so much time in that state. obama has a 73.6% chance of winning. it's hard to imagine a r
